You know that feeling where you have so much to do, and yet there are so many distractions..
Everything is vying for your attention..
And because of this, you end up either not really doing much of anything, or you focus on stuff you shouldn’t..?
Perhaps it’s just more comfortable or makes you happier and puts you in a better mental space?
This can affect anybody.
Whether you’re a brand new business coach, just starting out online…
An established consultant trying to carve out your space in the online world…
Or maybe you’re a coach who’s already online but have struggled to stay motivated… to scale… to bring in new clients.
Regardless of where you’re at right now, there’s one thing I’ve seen time and time again over the years – and even experienced myself – which is OVERWHELM!
Overwhelm can literally destroy your chances of starting a profitable business. It can also ruin your existing business if you don’t manage it properly..
And I really want to address this and throw down a few tips that have helped me keep moving forward and hitting my goals..
And allowed me to overcome overwhelm.
Now, as I share this if any of it resonates with you – feel free to send me an email with your thoughts.
Right now, there’s just so much going on in the world that’s vying for our attention. This COVID virus, politics — you name it..
All of this can quickly bog anyone down and lead to spinning wheels as you figure out what to do and what direction to go.
So here are my top 3 things that I use to defeat overwhelm:
#1 – Disconnect from the noise.
A few months ago, I did a little experiment. Whenever anything came up in my feed that made me feel negative or combative or took my attention away from what I was working on, I snoozed that individual for 30 days.
This included media channels, which I actively sought out. I was connected to and getting quite a few regular updates from news and other online media channels..
So I snoozed every single one of them for 30 days.
The result? I got much more done!
In fact, it made such a big difference that I made most of these permanent by either permanently snoozing or totally disconnecting/unfollowing.
More importantly, I found that I was way more positive throughout the day, had more energy, felt more motivated..
And the feeling of overwhelm was drastically reduced.
#2 – Have goals! Weekly & Daily.
I’m sure you’ve heard this hundreds of times, but you need to have some clearly defined weekly & daily goals.
Goals will keep you on track..
Working towards your goals WILL help you to punch your way through feelings of overwhelm.
There’s nothing better than crossing things off your to-do list to help move your mindset in a more positive direction and prove to your brain that you’re NOT overwhelmed..
That you ARE moving forward and that you’re getting shit done, regardless.
#3 – Take time for yourself.
You need to unplug from work occasionally…
Spend time with your family, unwind, have a few drinks, watch some Netflix… you NEED THIS!
And if necessary, take a day or two off… heck – I’ve recently started unplugging from social media for entire weekends!
It’s not something I do regularly, but when I do, I usually feel pretty rested and energized for the week..
And I feel great knowing I’m moving forward and will be hitting my goals.
So if you’re feeling overwhelmed about business or life in general, try it out. It all starts with these 3 simple things:
- Unplug from the noise
- Set weekly & daily goals
- Take time for yourself & your family
Your brain will thank you for it, your business will thank you for it, and your family will thank you for it!
And again, if you feel this resonates with you at all, fire off an email and let me know!
Enjoy your Friday and have a fantastic weekend!
